JOB SUMMARY

The Pre-K Director is responsible for the creation, launch, and ongoing leadership of the BGCGM’s early childhood education program serving children ages 4 and 5 at the JSYEC. This is a foundational role that will design curriculum, establish program policies and procedures, hire and supervise a small instructional team, and build relationships with families, community partners, and licensing agencies. The Director ensures the program meets all applicable state childcare regulations and reflects the Club's mission of enabling all young people to reach their full potential. This position requires a self-starter with deep knowledge of early childhood development and the operational drive to build something from the ground up.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and implement a developmentally appropriate Pre-K curriculum aligned with state early learning standards

• Recruit, hire, train, and supervise a team of early childhood educators and support staff

• Monitor classroom environments and teacher performance to ensure high-quality, safe, and nurturing learning experiences

• Maintain accurate student records, attendance, and developmental assessments in compliance with licensing requirements

• Serve as the primary point of contact for families, conducting intake meetings, conferences, and ongoing communication

• Develop and manage the program budget in coordination with Club leadership

• Build and maintain partnerships with local school districts, childcare networks, and community organizations

• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations governing early childhood programs

• Track program outcomes and prepare reports for Club leadership and funders

• Respond to and resolve any health, safety, or behavioral concerns involving enrolled children

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

• Must be at least 21 years of age or older.

• Ability to pass criminal background screening and obtain required fingerprinting.

• Ability to participate in behavior management and curriculum development.

• Ability and willingness to mentor and support staff development.

• Demonstrated leadership ability and experience supervising staff or teams.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills with a customer-friendly approach.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with young people, parents, and colleagues.

• Ability to remain calm, focused, and professional in high-stress or conflict situations.

• Strong organizational and time-management skills.

• Must have or be will to get an CDL-B license with passenger endorsement.

• Must maintain active personal automobile insurance with a minimum of liability insurance.

• Regular attendance required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Actively supervise and participate in recreational, athletic, and educational activities, both indoors and outdoors.

• Stand, walk, run, and engage in physical activity for extended periods of time.

• Respond quickly and appropriately in emergencies to ensure member safety.

• Maintain energy and alertness throughout extended shifts in a loud or high-energy environment.

• Work in various settings including gymnasiums, playgrounds, classrooms, and outdoor fields.

• Lift and carry supplies or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

• Perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, reaching, and climbing stairs.

• Use general office equipment including phones, copiers, and computer systems.
