The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Manchester is seeking an Assistant STEM Director at the new Jordan Singer Youth Enrichment Center located in the state-of-the-art Mark Stebbins Community Center in Manchester, NH.
JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant STEM Director supports the planning, coordination, and delivery of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math programming at the JSYEC Clubhouse STEM Lab. Reporting directly to the STEM Director, the Assistant STEM Director helps implement engaging, developmentally appropriate programs for Club members across all age groups, with a particular focus on integrating creative and digital arts into the STEM learning experience. This role assists in supervising program assistants, tracking participation and outcomes, and ensuring daily program operations run smoothly and in alignment with Boys & Girls Clubs of America national program standards and organizational goals.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the STEM Director in planning, organizing, and implementing daily STEAM programming in the STEM Lab and across Club spaces.
- Serve as acting program lead in the absence of the STEM Director.
- Assist in developing and integrating arts and creative technology components into existing STEM curriculum and activities.
- Help implement Boys & Girls Clubs of America National STEM programs and facilitate academic skill-building projects for members of all age groups.
- Directly support and provide day-to-day guidance to part-time STEM program assistants to ensure program objectives are met.
- Assist in hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and professional development of program support staff.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging environment where members actively engage, feel supported, and are recognized for their efforts.
- Provide additional behavioral support and guidance for members as needed.
- Promote STEM programs to members through schedules, announcements, and Club communications.
- Assist in tracking program participation, measuring outcomes, and maintaining records to support grant reporting and organizational metrics.
- Help manage STEM program supply inventory and assist in monitoring expenditures within the approved budget.
- Ensure adherence to program goals, safety standards, training requirements, and organizational policies.
- Participate in staff meetings, required trainings, and professional development sessions.
- Perform general administrative and operational tasks as assigned by the STEM Director.
- Respond quickly and appropriately in emergencies, including the ability to move swiftly to ensure member safety
- Maintain energy and alertness throughout extended shifts, often in a loud or high-energy environment
- Actively engage with members during hands-on STEM activities, both at tables and on the floor
- Lift and carry supplies or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
- Perform basic physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, reaching, and climbing stairs
- Use general office and lab equipment including phones, copiers, computers, and maker-space tools
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older
- Ability to pass criminal background screening and obtain required fingerprinting
- Associate's degree in a STEM field, Fine Arts, Education, or related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred. Relevant experience may substitute for education
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience facilitating or assisting with youth programming in a school, after-school, camp, or recreational setting
- Demonstrated knowledge of STEM concepts and enthusiasm for integrating arts and creative technology into youth learning experiences
- Familiarity with instructional technology, digital arts tools, or maker-space environments is a plus
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
- Current CPR and First Aid certification required and must be maintained
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Must maintain active personal automobile insurance with a minimum of liability coverage
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated ability to work effectively with youth, families, and colleagues
- Ability to support and encourage program assistants and peers in a team-oriented environment
- Calm, professional demeanor in high-stress or high-energy situations
- Flexibility with base hours to cover Club operations, school-based programs, and summer/vacation camp programs

Monday to Friday 2:30-6:30 (Can be flexible) $17.50 per hour
