
Director of Family & Behavioral Services
Responsible for addressing the needs of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Manchester members and families through a Whole Family Approach and helping members and their families through effective case management and coordinated service delivery with other partner agencies. Ensure that all members receive guidance to help them fulfill and make positive choices. Identify youth and families that need special attention due to personal, emotional, behavioral, financial, food, and housing insecurity or family concerns and develop individual case management programs or assist them with accessing external programs for their benefit. Responsible for making referrals to outside area youth and family support agencies and working with area agencies on incoming referrals. Advocate for the well-being of members and their families through open and ongoing communication.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assess the club's member guidance and special service needs and develop a comprehensive guidance program in cooperation with the Club's other direct program staff. Directly responsible for helping members develop positive values and ethical behavior through teaching, discussion, modeling, and consequences. Advocate for the well-being of members through open and ongoing communication with Club staff, parents, school personnel, and social Services professionals.
- Implement and manage a social and emotional learning curriculum.
- Be a support staff for the Age Group and Site Directors with the Boys & Girls Club of Manchester’s behavior management program, including documentation referrals. Responsible for all mandated reporting related to the areas mentioned above.
- Help ensure that all members are welcomed in various programs and activities, feel open to seeking advice and guidance from staff regarding problems, and receive care, respect, and recognition for their efforts. Provide additional guidance to members when more in-depth behavioral modifications are needed.
- Responsible for ordering and picking up items for the Food Pantry Program and meeting the food needs of our members and families by working with local agencies, such as, but not limited to, the Local NH Food Bank, Hannaford’s, Mobile Market, etc. May lift 50 lbs. or more.
- Work closely with Development and Teen Initiatives to manage the Holiday Help Program.
- Responsible for summer day camp responsibilities as assigned by the Camp Director. Responsibilities may differ from core position responsibilities.
- Required to drive daily school bus routes as assigned by the Club.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- High School diploma or equivalent is required, and a bachelor's degree in Human Services, Youth Guidance, Social Work, Child Psychology, or related discipline is required. A Master's degree is preferred. 1-3 years experience working with youth in a direct Services position in guidance, social services, health and life skills, and leadership development. Experience may be substituted for a lesser educational degree.
- Bilingual, Spanish preferred.
- Must be at least 21 years old and have the ability to obtain a CDL-B bus driver's license with a passenger endorsement within one year of hire and drive daily routes as required by the organization.
- Must obtain and maintain mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a background screening, including criminal and drug screening.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Consistently display strong communication and interpersonal skills in a customer-friendly approach.
- Demonstrated ability to work with young people, parents, and colleagues.
- Demonstrated public speaking skills.
- Ability to consistently remain calm, focused, and professional in a large group and high-stress situation caused by conflict, difficult members, or parents.
- Ability to be flexible with base hours as assigned by the Director of Operations to ensure coverage of all open hours of operation of the Clubhouse, school-based Extensions, summer camp, and school vacation weeks.
