Assistant Athletic Area Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY 

We are seeking a motivated and organized Assistant Athletic Area Supervisor to join our dynamic team at the Union Street Clubhouse in Manchester, NH. The Assistant Area Supervisor supports the Director in leading and managing all aspects of the Club’s athletic programs and facilities. This includes helping plan, organize, implement, and evaluate athletic activities while fostering a positive and safe environment where youth can grow, thrive, and develop healthy lifestyles.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Assist the Director with supervision of the gymnasium and the development of athletic programs at the Union Street Clubhouse.
  • Help create and maintain a positive environment that encourages youth participation, fosters personal growth, and ensures members feel respected, supported, and recognized.
  • Reinforce and uphold the Boys & Girls Club Code of Conduct and Behavior Policies with members.
  • Support the Director in supervising part-time staff, ensuring adherence to the Boys & Girls Club Code of Ethics and Staff Policies.
  • Encourage members to explore and participate in all areas of the Club, while promoting special events and programs.
  • Provide weekly one-on-one mentoring to members, offering positive guidance, life skills, and health-based knowledge while discussing their interests, school, and home life.
  • Serve as a positive role model, inspiring members to achieve their goals and reach their full potential.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support program and Club operations.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • High school diploma preferred; enrollment in or completion of coursework in Early Childhood Education, Recreation, Physical Education, or a related field is a plus.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a youth-serving organization (may substitute for formal degree).
  • Experience coordinating and leading youth activities, particularly athletics or recreation.
  • Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Ability to contribute to program and curriculum development.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Outlook).
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Must pass required background screenings.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a positive, youth-centered, customer-friendly approach.
  • Professional, respectful, and team-oriented attitude when working with members, families, and staff.
  • Ability to remain calm, focused, and professional in high-energy or stressful situations.
  • Flexibility to support after-school hours, school vacation weeks, and summer day camp, including occasional extended hours.
  • Willingness to mentor youth and help them succeed both on and off the court/field.

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Respond quickly and appropriately in emergencies to ensure member safety.
  • Maintain high energy and focus throughout extended shifts in a lively, high-energy environment.
  • Lift and carry 25–50 lbs. of equipment and supplies as needed.
  • Perform routine physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, and reaching.
  • Operate standard office equipment, including phones, copiers, and computers.
